Are Custom Orthotics Capable of Curing My Bunions?

An orthotic is a custom shoe insole that aims to improve the foot and ankle’s stability and efficiency. When an orthotic is well designed, it can assist alleviate the stresses that cause your bunion to occur. The custom orthotic will not cure the bunion or make it go away, but it will reduce or stop the progression of the deformity.

Custom orthotics are not all created equal. An impression of your foot is taken, which can be done using plaster, crush foam, or standing or walking on a digital plate. An orthotic can be molded from a variety of materials.

I undertake biomechanical assessments in my Houston podiatry practice, including measurements for both standing and walking. We examine your gait using two alternative methods: visual and digital gait analysis. Then we take a mold of your foot in a stable neutral stance.

It is most likely a bunion forming if you notice a bump forming on the side of your great toe joint. Contact Dr. Shobowale for advice on how to manage it so that it does not grow larger or more painful.
