Can acrylic nails be applied on my toenails?

Nice-looking toenails
Nice-looking toenails

I’m sure you like having nice-looking nails. Acrylic nails are a popular choice for fingernails. Some stylists will also use them on your toenails. This may be quite inconvenient, and it has the potential to result in pain and infection.

Why Do People Cover Up Their Toenails

There are a variety of reasons why people feel compelled to hide their natural toenail. To begin with, your toenail might be infected with a fungus. Toenails get thick and yellow due to fungus. Even after the infection is treated, the toenail takes at least nine months to grow out.

Trauma is another reason for thick, discolored toenails. On our feet, trauma is common: we might bump our toes, stub our toes, or have our toes stepped on. Another possible reason for this could be that your toes keep hitting the end or top of your shoe. While the damage is usually temporary, it is possible that the damage will be permanent, requiring you to find a solution to conceal it.

The Issue with Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails are rigid and stiff. This isn’t a problem on your fingernails, but it is when you put your foot into a shoe. As you walk and make contact with a shoe, your toenails flex. The nail would embed into your toe if it didn’t have this flexibility, resulting in an ingrown toenail. Even if the pressure is only applied for a brief period of time, it might result in a serious toe infection. This infection will need a visit to the doctor’s office. It’s the same way we’d deal with a normal ingrown toenail. To avoid these issues, it’s best to stay away from artificial nails.

Keryflex Is a Product That Can Help You

At DeNiel Foot and Ankle Center, our foot specialist has a way for you to get your toes back in shape— Keryflex.  Keryflex is a keratin resin that is put to your toenail to give it a healthy appearance. Keratin is the same component that makes up your natural nails. It is flexible, unlike artificial nails, and will not create the same issues as acrylic nails. As with a typical toenail, you may apply nail polish and nail polish remover.

During sandal season, men frequently come in to have a Keryflex toenail applied to damaged or fungal nails. We can remove the gloss from the nails so no one can tell you have anything except your own toenails.

Check To See Whether Keryflex Is Right for You

There have been many people who have been happy with Keryflex, both men and women. They keep returning to get their toenails redone with Keryflex. Some people only visit during the summer. Others right before going on vacation. Others continue to visit throughout the year.

To find out if you’re a candidate for Keryflex toenail restoration, contact DeNiel Foot and Ankle Center. In just 30 minutes, you’ll have natural-looking toenails. This summer, you’re going to enjoy wearing sandals! Call 832-415-1790 to schedule an appointment right away.
