Corns do not grow from seeds unless they are grown in a garden or on a farm. Corns on feet, joking aside, do not sprout from a seed or a root. A corn is a thickening of the skin that occurs as a result of pressure. A shoe that is too small, for example, might push on a toe, causing pressure that causes the skin to thicken and develop a corn.
Regardless of how “wonderful” a shoe is, corns are common. Internal pressure is frequently caused by a bone in the toe. This might be due to arthritis, bone spurs, or a hammertoe, which is a contracture of the joint. The pressure from the bone also causes a corn, which is a conical region of hard, dead skin. Padding and wearing shoes with greater space inside are two treatments for this. The best final treatment for a persistent corn is surgery to relieve the pressure off the bone.
