How Close Should I Get My Foot Pain Evaluated Before My Race?

Runners on track

In my Houston sports podiatry office, I see a variety of runners such as ultra-marathon runners, serious high school and college athletes, Ironman triathletes, weekend warriors, and marathon runners are just a few examples. It never ceases to amaze me how many people come in immediately before their race, in pain, after months of training.

One of the jobs I take very seriously is assisting my patients to achieve and exceed their objectives. I don’t want to be the one to tell a runner that he can’t run although sometimes it is impossible to avoid it. The sooner you come into our office when you start to feel pain, the less likely you are to have a substantial training disruption. The longer you wait, the worse your running injury gets, and more time will be required to treat it.

If you have any pain while jogging, now is the time to see Dr. Shobowale so that she can assess your injuries and give treatment recommendations. This will help you get back to running soon. Get in touch with DeNiel Foot & Ankle Center right away! Your injury will get worse if you wait.
