Is It Possible to Get A Bunion on The Top of My Foot?

Bunion on top of foot

A bunion is a bump on the bottom of the foot that surrounds the great toe joint. A bunion is a bump on the side of the foot, although it can also be a bump on the top of the foot.

A bunion on the top of the foot is usually not inherited, rather it develops as a result of trauma. A sprain or jamming of the great toe joint creates a gradual growth of bone on top of the joint, known as a bone spur. As a result, the joint becomes more restricted, and the discomfort worsens.

A personalized orthotic is used to treat a dorsal bunion detected early. A thin carbon steel liner can aid in alleviating pain by restricting motion. However, surgery may be required to remove the bone spur and restore joint motion in this form of a bunion. Your podiatrist in Houston will make the most thorough recommendation for you.
