Is It True That All Runners Have Foot Pain?

Runners commonly suffer from foot pain
Runners commonly suffer from foot pain

Not all athletes suffer from foot pain; it is the most prevalent injury in the field. Shoe choice, foot type, training, and running surface influence the likelihood of a runner acquiring a foot injury.

Runners with a flat, pronated foot or a high-arched, cavus foot must select appropriate footwear. Runners should never run in anything other than running shoes, such as sneakers, tennis shoes, or cross-trainers. Weekend warriors are always more vulnerable to injury than those who train. Running is best done on forgiving, level terrains. When possible, stay clear from asphalt and concrete.

Those who manage their foot issue early find themselves back to running quicker than those who wait. Your Houston podiatrist will be able to identify the problems and recommend a treatment plan that will get you back on track.

If you are having trouble running because your foot or ankle hurts, have it checked out before it gets worse. Contact Houston podiatrist, Dr. Shobowale, to provide a thorough evaluation and recommendations to help you go back to running pain-free as soon as possible.
