Is Physical Therapy Effective for Heel Pain?

Physical therapy for heel pain
Physical therapy for heel pain

Physical therapy is an often-overlooked treatment for heel pain. Physical therapists are experts in mobilizing, stretching, and strengthening the body to treat musculoskeletal injuries and help patients recover from surgery. Therapy can help reduce inflammation and restore mobility, and also resolve plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation that causes heel pain.

Modalities such as ultrasound are used to penetrate and heal the injury in addition to massage, stretching, and strengthening. While physical therapy is not a first-line treatment for heel pain, it is beneficial in chronic or persistent cases. We recently discovered resistant cases of heel pain that were significantly helped by physical therapy. We collaborate with physical therapists whose philosophies include overall care for the patient. It has been a significant step toward relieving pain in people suffering from heel pain.

DeNiel Foot & Ankle Center can help you if you are frustrated by heel discomfort that will not go away. Our Houston podiatrist Dr. Shobowale will do a thorough examination to decide on the most advanced treatment to get you out of discomfort as quickly as possible.
