Seed warts, medically known as verrucae, are non-cancerous skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). These growths are commonly found on the soles of the feet and can be quite painful and bothersome if not treated properly. The word ‘seed’ is often used to describe these warts due to their small, dark spots that resemble seeds in their appearance.
