Can Ibuprofen Relieve the Pain of a Neuroma?

Neuroma pain

The majority of Morton’s neuroma discomfort is caused by inflammation of the nerve that runs through the ball of your foot.  An anti-inflammatory drug like ibuprofen or naproxen can help with a painful Morton’s neuroma. This medicine can help to relieve nerve pain by reducing inflammation around the nerve.

When over-the-counter medications fail to treat your neuroma discomfort, your podiatrist in Houston might take extra steps to relieve the pain caused by the neuroma. Anti-inflammatory medications with a prescription strength will be more effective in reducing inflammation and alleviating pain. Other therapies, like cortisone injections, are available to relieve the pain of Morton’s neuroma.

Don’t let a neuroma in the ball of your foot keep you from doing the activities you enjoy. If medication does not provide immediate and total relief, please contact our Houston office for a thorough evaluation.
