Is Athlete’s Foot Linked to Toenail Fungus?

by admin

Athlete’s foot infection

Athlete’s foot is comparable to toenail fungus. Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection of the skin. It is a fairly common foot infection that affects the sole of the foot as well as the space between the toes. The same fungus that infects the skin can also infect the toenails, causing them to thicken and discolor. Athlete’s foot, in fact, is the root of many cases of toenail fungus.

However, the therapy for toenail fungus differs from that for athlete’s foot. Topical antifungal medicine typically works effectively for athlete’s foot. While some cases of toenail fungus respond to topical medications like Tocylen solution, the majority of cases require more aggressive treatment. A three-month course of oral antifungal medication or laser treatment are two options.

At DeNiel Foot and Ankle Center, we provide a variety of treatment options for fungal toenails. The optimum therapy for your ailment will be provided by the foot doctor in Houston.
