Is Shockwave Therapy Effective in Treating My Neuroma?

Shockwave therapy can help with neuroma pain

Shockwave therapy is a relatively novel treatment for several types of inflammation. It’s widely used to treat plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendonitis-related heel pain. Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) and Extracorporeal Pulse Activated Therapy (EPAT) are the two most prevalent types of shockwave therapy.

Shockwave therapy can help with pain from Morton’s neuroma, but it’s not as common as it is for heel pain and tendonitis. The therapy will help to reduce neuroma inflammation, which will help to decrease discomfort. It does not, however, remove the neuroma from the body. Inflammation can recur over time, in which case a custom orthotic can be utilized to help relieve the strain on the nerve.

If you want a safe treatment that does not require medicine, injections, or anesthesia, then EPAT is the treatment for you. Make an appointment with your Houston podiatrist today
