When I Run, My Feet Hurt, But No Pain, No Gain, Right?

The battle cry of all athletes used to be “no pain, no gain.” As more athletes become injured, a far more zen “let your body be your leader” approach has taken hold. There is a distinction to be made between soreness caused by conditioning and discomfort that affects your running.

Pain is your body’s warning system that something isn’t right. Continuing to run despite pain increases your chances of developing an overuse injury like Achilles tendonitis or plantar fasciitis. These symptoms will worsen and force you to reduce, if not completely halt your running. The longer you delay having your pain identified and treated, the longer it will take you to get back on your feet.

Listen to your body and book an appointment at DeNiel Foot & Ankle Center at the earliest signs of pain. The earlier you call and come in, the greater the chances that you will not stop running at all!
