Will Wearing A Night Splint Assist My Heel Pain?

Night splint for heel pain
Night splint for heel pain

Plantar Fasciitis or Achilles Tendonitis are two risky foot disorders that cause severe pain in your heel when you first get out of bed in the morning. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia ligament, that connects the bottom of the heel bone to the plantar fascia. Achilles tendonitis occurs when the Achilles tendon at its connection to the back of the heel bone becomes inflamed.

While there are various therapies for both forms of heel pain, a night splint works well for both. I’ve found that the most helpful and pleasant form is when the support is in the heel. It is the lightest and most comfortable night splint to wear and sleep. The plantar fascia ligament and Achilles tendon are stretched continuously overnight with night splints. It is a successful treatment for heel pain. When you first get out of bed in the morning, you will notice a significant reduction in pain. This alleviation will last throughout the day, and if you continue to wear the night splint each night, you will see a gradual reduction in heel discomfort.

This type of night splint is available at DeNiel Foot & Ankle Center. The good news is that, in most circumstances, health insurance will pay for the night splint. Regardless, if you experience heel discomfort, you should visit your Houston podiatrist to get it treated. To get you free of discomfort as quickly as possible, you’ll be evaluated and treated.
