Why Do Running Publications Advise Against Orthotics?

Custom orthotics
Custom orthotics

Now and then, I come across an article in a well-known running publication that dismisses the value and effectiveness of custom orthotics. I’ll admit that I’m irritated since I’ve seen firsthand how custom-made orthotics help runners improve their speed and endurance. On the other hand, I can see their point of view.

An insole produced from a model of your foot is known as a custom orthotic. Whether produced by a Houston podiatrist, orthotist, physical therapist, or chiropractor, it’s referred to as a custom orthotic. The final product differs depending on how it’s made…and there are many alternative approaches to personalized orthotics. Those on the outside looking in can observe varied results since some work better than others.

My Houston podiatry practice is here. When I examine you for custom-made orthotics, I conduct a thorough biomechanical evaluation. I observe your range of motion from your hip to your feet, observe your stride and perform a gait analysis, and then take a plaster mold of your foot. I feel it is the most accurate method of capturing the foot in its most stable position.

The results speak for themselves and I assure you the orthotics will feel and function flawlessly. Contact Dr. Shobowale in Houston if you haven’t had success with custom orthotics in the past and want to experience the difference a suitably designed device can make.
